Ministry of Magic

Where the Minister of Magic works, as well as the Ministry. The main floor is spacious and intricately detailed, with an ornate fountain in the center and wizards and witches coming and going through fireplaces all along the walls via Floo Powder. Lifts take you up and down to any of the floors and to the many different Departments that look after everything magic-related. Any underage wizards and witches that break the rules answer here. Break the law, and you`ll get tried by the entire Wizengamot.

The Leaky Cauldron

The Leaky Cauldron is an inn, pub, and a meeting place for wizards. It was built in 1500 to serve as a gateway between the non-wizarding world and Diagon Alley.

The Entrance Hall

The first thing you see when you walk in through the front doors of the castle. A grand marble staircase stands before you that leads up to the corridors and to the moving staircases beyond which you can access the rest of the many floors.

The Great Hall

A large long room that houses the four long House tables, and the staff table that faces them. The ceiling is bewitched to look like the sky outside. This is where events such as the Yule Ball and the Sorting take place.

The Dungeons

Like every castle, Hogwarts has dungeons. Dark, cold, lit by torches along the walls, this is the way to Potions class, the kitchen, and the Slytherin Common Room.

The Kitchen

Tickle a peach on a painting of fruit and a hidden door opens to reveal where the kitchen is. A caution: be prepared to get swarmed by grovelling house elves as soon as you enter.

Corridors

There are many corridors in Hogwarts, and many hidden ones. State where you are and where you are going - or doing. Although roaming the halls is allowed in the daytime, it is NOT in the nighttime. Get caught by a Professor or Prefect and you`ll lose House Points.

This room appears when you walk passes it three times concentrating on what you need. This serves as a great secret hideout for Dumbledore`s Army.

Hospital Wing

Hospital beds line these walls. If you get injured during class or during a duel, you`ll be whisked away here. However, if your wound is more serious, you`ll be carted off to St. Mungo`s.

Library

A large room lined and full of shelves of books - as a library should be. THIS library is filled with books on magic, and has its own restricted section. You`ll need a pass from a Professor in order to get in there. However, the rest of the library is free for all students to roam and read, and is a great refuge to get your homework done in peace.

Give the password to the stone Gargoyle out front to reveal a winding moving staircase up to the Headmaster`s Office. Inside are portraits of past Headmaster`s, the Desk, and odd contraptions littering the room. This is also where Fawkes resides.

This is the Care Of Magical Creatures Class. Here is where you learn all about magical creatures - how to identify them, how to look after them, and what to watch out for.

Herbology

This is where you learn all about magical and non-magical plants. It takes place in one of the greenhouses outside the castle. There are also a lot of stuff in the garden for students to use in Herbology. Also, be sure to bring the required things you were asked for.

Potions

This is where you will learn the properties of and how to make different potions, such as the Felix Felicis which makes the person who drinks it lucky for a bit of time. Students have to pair up at the desks, as space is limited. Make sure you read the instructions carefully!

Transfiguration

This is where you will learn how to change objects in something else. You must study well here, because there is a lot of work to do in this class. This takes place in a medium-sixed room that has 4 big line of tables, and a desk for the teacher.

This is where you will learn useful, technical spells such as the Levitating Charm, 'Wingardium Leviosa', and the Summoning Charm, 'Accio'. Just make sure you pronounce them correctly.

This is where you will learn to defend yourself in case your life gets endangered. You also learn how to recognize dark creatures such as Grindylows, what spell would be best to thwart them, and learn to defend yourself against a Boggart.

The Whomping Willow

Planted during the time of Messrs Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs, this tree is very violent and will smack you around if you get too close. There is a hidden pathway to Hogsmeade`s Shrieking Shack under the tree. To get in, you have to touch a know nearby this secret entrance. Good luck.

Off limits to students, the Forbidden Forest is full of magical creatures, mostly on the dangerous side. Aside from giant spiders and Centaurs, you can also find unicorns and Hagrid`s large, younger brother Grawp.
